The island of Kolocep – on your way to the Old City of Dubrovnik

One of the three inhabited Elaphite Islands that are waiting to be discovered is the picturesque island of Kolocep. Just a short boat trip away from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik (or even nearer from Šipan) you can get back to basics on an island that is as stunning as it is peaceful.

The nobility of the Republic of Dubrovnik knew the benefits of escaping the city and returning to nature. As a result there are lots of glorious stone summer residences scattered around the island.

A pedestrian heaven and a car-free zone Kolocep offers charming coves, flowing sandy beaches and quaint pebble inlets. Looking for a recommendation then why not try the beaches of Porat and Sapluni.

Island of Kolocep is all about natural beauty

First of all, this is truly a green oasis, with soaring cliffs, craggy reefs and thick Mediterranean forests. You can truly lose yourself in the beauty of Mother Nature, although you’ll always be within sight of the twinkling Adriatic Sea. With a crystal, clear sea forever on your horizon don’t forget your snorkel and towels. Finally, one of the most popular attractions on the island is the Blue Cave, find out for yourself why it got the name.

There are only two small hamlets on the entire island and they are well within walking distance of each other. Moreover, these charming fishing villages are picture-postcard perfect and offer a selection of restaurants and bars. You’ll also discover the rich history of this island in the churches and cultural monuments.
